Do you want to find out how walkable your community or neighborhood is? The national Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) have put together an excellent resource for citizens to evaluate their neighborhood's walkablity. Take a walk and go through this walkability checklist to measure the walkability of your area and find out what needs to be done to improve your neighborhood's score. In addition, the PBIC has a resource called the Resident's Guide for Creating Safe and Walkable Communities that allows citizens to achieve walkability in their community through active participation and engagement. Another resource, called How to Develop a Pedestrian Safety Action Plan, goes a step deeper into the planning process to create safer pedestrian environments. |
